The next batch of prizes will be on offer from the 1st May 2016

Unavoidable due to the recent death of my dear son Fintan and my frequent absences from my home computer.
I will get back to this.

Each month I will be able to offer some Pure Fishing products as prizes to those ABU devotees who "discover" the answer to a question relating to www.realsreels.com website.

Sometimes the winner may be asked to submit a photograph relating to their use of ABU products.

This will vary over time .......
Prizes each month will vary from randomly chosen items and include  reels, lures, caps, Ambassadeur Club cloth patches and one very rare  "For Life" Bluray DVD .

The first Competition /Prize Give-away entry-time will be  12 am, 1st of May 2015 and will continue on the 1st of each month till I run out of prizes....be ready

It will be open to any ABU fans from around the world who visit this site. European/American etc fan who enter will be considered by their time zones.

One prize winner only each month and first correct e-mail response  to me  abuadmiral@gmail.com  will win.

All entries cannot be acknowleged, but the winning (first in one the 1st May) will be published.
It is conditional that the winner agrees to his/her name and Happy winner photo be submitted to post here.
Assistance with postage of prize to the winner's address  would be greatly appreciated

Some of the random prizes this time  will be ABU Garcia reels, Ambassadeur low profile Revo, round 5500 C3, Spinning ORRA Inshore, fishing caps, assorted Rob Gaden Australian lures and caps. One copy of the most desirable FOR LIFE, The story of ABU Garcia,  Bluray DVD is also up for grabs.

Answer to Question 1

The answer was Ake Murvall, and the winner was Luke Tierney, whom we will hear from soon with a picture of him and his new Orra2ins60 saltwater spinning  reel.

The answer  was Karl Nurmse the inventor of so many ABU products, including the Cardinal spinning reel. The winner was Al Hosking from New Zealand.

His prize will be winging its way toward him as soon as I receive his postal address.

We look forward to seeing some photos of Alastair with his prize and of course fishing successfully with it later.

The answer  is .....The Morrum River

Pure Fishing are generously providing a prize this month of an  Ambassadeur Classic 5500 C3, seen below. Who would not want this fine reel in their fishing gear or collection?

It boasts 5.3 gear ratio, 65cm retrieve per wind, 7kg of drag as well as 220 m+ capacity

Collectible Bluray Dvd  "For Life: The Story of ABU Garcia" it runs for 45minutes and could be seen on youtube but the actual physical copy is quite a scarce item, once sold for a very short period of time and I believe now sold  out.
It will be accompanied with a PF cap and cloth Ambassadeur Club badge
A most desirable prize targeted specifically at the collector this month!

It is targeted specifically at collectors and fans of ABU, rather than casual visitors.

I am looking for some images of old ABU protoytype reels , lures or rods to claim the prize

Pure Fishing have offered a lovely Orange Revo Baicaster this month and has been won by Uffe Edefuhr from Sweden and has been a long time friend. Congratulations not so much for the win but the dozen prototype photos you bombarded the entry with some to be shared on site soon. Without doubt this is the strangest experiment I have ever seen ABU create.....a flop I believe you say but still an attempt to crack new markets.

What is special about the ABU necktie embroidered with Rekord Fisken Gold with Laurels  featured on this website?

So nice to hear that! Thank you so much!!! I will give it to Carolina as she needs a powerful long cast reel for big pikes and "gös" at our cabin. I´ll use my Cardinal 66 from -73 and try to compete with her..  =)

Her husband Erik has just sent this happy snap of Caroline with a fine specimen of a 98cm/4.8kg,  Pike caught on the prize PF ABU Garcia Orra and an old 9 ft Tournament Pro rod which did a great job.

A very nicer PF ABU Garcia Spinning reel in the form of a big Orra S 60 is on offer as the give-away prize this month. These reel have never had line on them or been used,  but have been handled at a trade show. They come bare and without the box but who would not like to use one of these?

Hi Wayne!

Congratulations to Sture Nilsson from Taeby SWEDEN, "Coals going to Newcastle"  as we say here in Australia, with an ABU reel going back to Sweden. To be used by his great-grandson I am told. Look forward to a photograph in time. The reel is for Tage , Sture's grandson.

Prize for 1st September  2017

The next prize offering from Pure Fishing Australia will be an Abu Garcia Abumatic S which is a quality closed face spinning reel 



This is a small reel which will impress Dad or Mum as well the youngster just starting off his fishing hobby.
Whiting, bream, flathead or other estuary species as well as any freshwater species like trout, redfin etc will be its target.
This reel has been handled at a Trade Show, it comes spooled with Stren monofilament but has never been fished, and will arrive in a plastic bag only.
