Madsen (ABU Museum
Curator)
Svinninge,
Denmark
Another friend of Uffe, who lived in northern Denmark, was called upon
and we were made very welcome.
The whole museum is wonderfully presented but there is one particular
item there that I know all about but never seen or held before.
More about this later. Svendage is a very capable fisherman , having won
many competitions. This recent competition, while results were not large
fish, he did in fact win as he scored 7 different species.
The Museum is not official but does have a stream of Visitors/friends
who enjoy the experience.
It is quite compact being maybe 5 m wide and 12 m long , still 4 times
the size of my ABU room.
The beautiful gold Halda pocketwatch, which preceded the A.B.Urfabriken
example is well deserving of keeping dirty hands from its surface.
The Ambassadeur underslung prototype once belonged to Uffe and is
now in Svendagas care.
Predominantly ABU and Record orientated, there are some other objects,
here namely IGFA Game Fishing equipment, viz rods, reels, game chairs,
huge hooks and matching leaders.
Now that is mentioned, I will show the purpose of ABU fishing with
this huge Gos and get onto mainly ABU equipment.
Some very old manual from the 40s with 50s and 60s ABU notebooks to
record fishing trips.
A touch of modern ABU bling in contrast to the Records dating back 70 +
years
Seagrass box for Record 1400 and a travelling salesman case for larger
ABU lures.
The giant Award Toby can be hefted to feel it kg+ weight!
First I must mention the ABU Tournament Combo spider silk casting
rod/reel.
The beautiful black presentation case of chrome Ambassadeur 5000 Rocket,
watch and cuff links as presented to Svendage for help to the company.
This as presented to Len Borgstom on the occasion of his 80th birthday ,
his being naturally #1
Also alongside is a 70s travelling salesman case of large lures, both
wobblers and spoons.
A full size Miss ABU also lives here!
to be continued....
